The 79-year-old actress and Guy Pearce are both set to join the cast of the romantic thriller alongside previously announced stars Clive Owen, Toni Collette, and Gillian Anderson.

'Andorra' will be directed by Fred Schepisi, and is based on the 1997 novel of the same name, written by Peter Cameron.

The plot follows Alexander Fox (Pearce), a bookseller who leaves the US after suffering a personal tragedy in order to start a new life in the small nation of Andorra.

As he meets new people in his new home, he finds himself in the centre of a murder investigation after being named the prime suspect.

Originally, 52-year-old Clive was on board to play the lead, but conflicting schedules meant he had to step down from the role and will instead be playing the supporting male role of Mr. Dent, who shares a volatile secret with his wife Mrs. Dent (Collette).

Gillian, alongside Joanna Lumley and Ricardo Scamarcio, completes the rest of the cast so far.

They will play Miss Quay, Mrs. Quay, and Lieutenant Afgroni respectively, though it is as yet unclear what role those characters will have within the story.

Vanessa will be playing a character called Mrs. Reinhardt, though it is also not known how she will fit into the plot at this time.

The screenplay has been adapted from Peter's novel by Jamie Bialkower, who is also producing the movie alongside Fred Schepisi and Lizzette Atkins.

The executive producers are James Ivory, Natalie Miller, and Hengameh Panahi.

Production is set to begin in Italy in April next year, with no release date confirmed as of yet.
