When Marnie Was There

When Marnie Was There

Studio Ghibli is back with When Marnie Was There, and the first footage from the film has been released.

The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Joan G. Robinson and sees Hiromasa Yonebayashi in the director's chair: he has also penned the screenplay.

This is the second directorial outing for Yonebayashi, and the first since the fantastic Arrietty.

The first footage of the film has been released, and we have it for you to take a look at:

When Marnie Was There follows lonely young girl Anna, who is suddenly befriended by stranger Marnie. However, when Marnie disappears, she learns some truths about her new friend.

When Marnie Was There is the next Studio Ghibli film to be released in Japan, but The Tale of Princess Kaguya is the next one to hit the big screen in the U.S.
