Tracks

Mia Wasikowska is one of the most exciting young acting talents and her next film Tracks really does have just about everyone excited.

The movie will see Wasikowska team up with director John Curran to tell the incredible true story of Robyn Davidson. Wasikowska will take on the role of Davidson in the film: a woman who set off a nine month and 1,700 mile journey across the Australian desert.

Despite being told that the journey was impossible, Davidson set out on an incredible feat of personal endurance. National Geographic photographer Rick Smolan documents her time in desert and he will be played by Adam Driver in the film.

The fantastic new trailer for this powerful film has just been released and we have it for you to take a look at:

While this is a movie that does focus on one woman’s incredible story, Wasikowska is joined by a great cast as Driver, Emma Booth, Rainer Bock and Jessica Tovey are all also on board.

In the last couple of years, Wasikowska has delivered some great performances with the likes of The Kids Are Alright, Alice In Wonderland and Stoker under her belt. Tracks is unlike any other movie that she has done and it is set to show a steely side to her as an actress.

She seems to be growing with every role and I am excited to see her explore themes of endurance and loneliness with this new role; it will be interesting to see what sort of performance Curran can get from her. Some have even suggested that this could be a performance worth an Oscar nomination.

The movie has already been whipping up a storm on the festival circuit playing in the likes of Venice and London throughout the autumn and it is set to be one of the most see spring films of 2014.

Tracks is released 25th April 2014.
