Russell Crowe has taken on great roles and starred in some fantastic movies over the years, and he is set to take on another in the new year.

Crowe will return in biblical epic - in which he will take on the title role - as he teams up with director Darren Aronofsky for the first time.

Aronofsky has been behind movies such as The Wrestler and Requiem for a Dream in recent years, but this will be his first directorial outing since the success of Black Swan back in 2011.

Noah also sees Aronofsky team up with Ari Handel to pen the screenplay. The director has made some great films over the years, but Noah looks set to be one of the biggest and most daring projects of his career to date.

Crowe is an actor who owns every role that he has ever played and Noah promises to be another exciting and intriguing character for the Oscar winner.

An all-star cast has been assembled around Crowe as he is set to reunite with his A Beautiful Mind co-star Jennifer Connelly.

Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Kevin Durand are also on board. 2014 looks set to be the year of the ensemble cast and Noah boasts one of the most impressive line-ups.

Russell Crowe stars as Noah, a man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.

We may all know the story of Noah and the ark, and yet we are going to see one of the Old Testament’s most famous figures in a way that we have never seen before.

If you haven’t had chance to check the trailer out then you really should take a look at it as Noah is set to be an epic sword and sandals affair; a genre of film that we have not see on the big screen for quite some time.

Aronofsky is a filmmaker who is not afraid to make movies that don’t fit the mould, and yet Noah could well be one of his more mainstream projects.

Noah is released 28th March 2014.
