The science fiction genre has been a very strong one in the last couple of years and Passengers is set to be another unmissable film when it is released in December.

Passengers

Passengers

Passengers is a movie that many have been getting excited about all year and - I have to admit - it is one of the sci-fi films that I have been looking forward to all year. I have my fingers tightly crossed that it will live up to all of the early hype.

The movie sees Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence team up with Chris Pratt for the first time as they take on the central role of space travellers Aurora and Jim, who are unexpectedly pushed together.

They are two of the most exciting and in-demand actors in Hollywood and both of them have had another very successful year with some big movies already under their belt. I have a sneaking feeling that Passengers is going to be another hit for them.

Passengers marks the return of Morten Tyldum to the director's chair for what is his first feature film since the critical and commercial success of The Imitation Game back in 2014.

Tyldum has also brought us movies such as Headhunters and Fallen Angels in recent years and I am exciting to see him tackle a mainstream sci-fi film for the first time.

Jon Spaihts, who has penned the screenplay for Van Helsing and The Darkest Hour, is also aboard the project having written the script.

While Lawrence and Pratt are the heart and soul of this film, Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, Aurora Perrineau, and Kimberly Battista complete a great cast list.

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions.

As Jim (Pratt) and Aurora (Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction... until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.

When it comes to science fiction films in 2016, Passengers is one of the most anticipated movies and I cannot wait to see Lawrence and Pratt in action together. I really do think that they are going to make a terrific film team.

Passengers is released 23rd December
