With the comments this week made by Dacre Montgomery – Jason aka Red Ranger in the new Power Rangers movie – which said the cast of the new superhero release were hopeful for a female Green Ranger in any future sequels, we’ve been thinking about which actresses we’d love to see step into the role of a gender-bent ‘Tommy Oliver’. Who would be best to take on the Green Ranger mantle? Here’s our pick of 5 Actresses Who Could Totally Play Green Ranger.
5. Emma Watson
Now she’s finished telling her ‘tale as old as time’ with Disney’s recent live-adaptation of classic film Beauty and the Beast, Emma Watson could not only change the gender of Tommy Oliver, but bring a British twist to proceedings if she decided to don the Green Ranger costume. Perhaps Tommy could be an exchange student who gets much more than she bargained for when she comes across the Green Power Coin...
4. Emma Roberts
She’s the woman who just doesn’t seem to age, and certainly would pass for a fellow student in the Power Rangers universe. Proving her acting chops in such shows as American Horror Story and Scream Queens, as well as big screen releases like We’re The Millers, she’s able to shift her style of acting to suit pretty much any genre, so who’s to say she wouldn’t make an incredible superhero? Having come a long way from her days as the Wild Child, we could totally see Emma Roberts kicking ass and taking names alongside the rest of the Rangers team.
3. Jennifer Lawrence
We already know Jennifer Lawrence can more than handle her own following her time with the Hunger Games franchise, so now maybe it’s time for her to jump into another huge series. Power Rangers would provide the perfect platform for Lawrence to continue to impress audiences across the globe and maintain her place as America’s Sweetheart. With a great sense of humour and a proven track record, we’re sure those behind the movie are already considering getting in touch with Lawrence if they DO move ahead with a female Green Ranger…
2. Amber Midthunder
As one half of Kerry in Legion, Amber Midthunder has proven she’s an incredible choreographed fighter in some of the most thrilling fight scenes this year on the small screen. Making that transition to the big screen for someone so talented shouldn’t be too much of a challenge; she certainly looks the part.
1. Priyanka Chopra
One of the most under-rated actresses of our time has to be Priyanka Chopra. Incredible in the TV series she leads, Quantico, and coming to the big screen this May in the new Baywatch film, she’s certainly somebody on the rise. Those working on a potential sequel would be wise to get their offer out to Chopra before somebody else snaps her up for the foreseeable future.
