Everyone loves a summer blockbuster. There is something about taking refuge from the heat of the sun in a dark room for just a few hours that makes the whole cinema experience that much more satisfying. One movie in particular that we’re being treated to is this summer’s hottest heist Ocean’s 8, which hits UK screens on Monday, June 18. It’s Fun

Ocean’s 8 is serious without taking itself seriously. A heist full of action, with comedy running through it all; its cast have incredible chemistry and you can tell they really had fun with it. Led by Sandra Bullock, who’s no newbie when it comes to comedic roles and can deliver a punchline like no other; it’s an entertaining ride from start to end.

The Fashion

With the Met Gala as their target, fashion takes centre-stage. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the ball is known as the event where the A-list pull out all the stops, and it looks like the ladies of Ocean’s 8 are no exception. With the cast rocking fabulous fur coats, designer shades and high heels aplenty, it’s probably the closest you’ll get to attending.

Arguably the most star-studded film of the year, Ocean’s 8 boasts an enviable cast including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna. Speculation has been running wild since the filming of Ocean’s 8 back in 2016 about which famous faces would appear in the film playing themselves. Among the rumoured cameos are a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers. Dying to know if your favourite celeb is in the film? Us too. Release night cannot come fast enough!

Tech

To pull off an impossible heist, you need some pretty cutting-edge tech, and someone who knows what they’re doing with it. Enter the team’s tech-savvy hacker extraordinaire Nine Ball, played by Rihanna. With the Met Gala surrounded by near-impenetrable cyber security, as well as the eyes of the world watching, this crew of specialists will need to pull out all the stops.

Heist

Like the George Clooney-led Ocean’s trilogy, Ocean’s 8 revolves around a huge heist; but this time it’s Debbie Ocean – Danny’s sister – planning the hit. The prize? A $150 million diamond necklace, due to be worn by celebrity and socialite Daphne Kluger (Hathaway) on the red carpet at the Met Gala. To make off with the diamonds, Ocean must assemble the perfect team of criminals and come up with an utterly flawless plan.
