Riddick will be hitting the big screen next week and I am excited to see Vin Diesel reprise the title role.

Riddick is the third film in the sci-fi franchise, but the first since Chronicles of Riddick back in 2004.

With less than a week to go before the film drops we have a couple of fantastic new clips to wet your appetite.

Riddick is one of the movies that we have been looking forward to the most this year and it looks like director David Twohy has given it more of a Pitch Black feel than its predecessor.

It looks set to be a darker and grittier affair then the slightly more blockbusterish Chronicles of Riddick.

This is the third movie that Diesel and Twohy have worked on together; the first being Pitch Black back in 2000.

It has also been quite some time since we have seen Twohy in the director's chair as this is his first film since A Perfect Getaway back in 2009.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless.

Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered.

The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal.

With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

2013 has already been a fantastic year for sci-fi film lovers, and Riddick looks set to continue that great trend.

Riddick remains one of my favourite Vin Diesel characters and it is great to see him back on the big screen after such a long wait.

Riddick is released 4th September.
