Safe Haven is the latest of Nicholas Sparks’ novels to be adapted for the big screen in recent years and it will follow in the footsteps of The Notebook and Dear John.

Sparks adaptations are always romantic and charming movies and Safe Haven looks to continue this trend when it is released this week.

The movie marks the return to the director’s chair for Lasse Hallstrom in what is his first film since Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

Every Sparks novel has a leading man and leading lady and this time around the film sees Josh Duhamel team up with Julianne Hough.

Of course the pair end up falling love but a when a secret from the past rears its ugly head the relationship is put under threat.

Cobie Smulders and David Lyons are also on the cast list while Noah Lomax has back on the big screen - he played the cute kid in Playing The Field.

When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past.

Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children.

But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
