Seventh Son is set to hit the big screen early next year and a brand new international trailer promises that it is going to be an action packed and rip-roaring ride.

Seventh Son is based on the book The Last Apprentice by Joseph Delaney and is a movie that I have been looking forward to seeing for some time - I really can't wait to see just how this story translates on to the big screen.

Sergey Bodrov is in the director's chair, while Charles Leavitt has teamed up with Steven Knight to adapt the book into a screenplay.

The brand new trailer for the movie has arrived, and we have it for you to take a look at:

Bodrov has assembled a terrific cast for the film - 2015 is already boasting some wonderful ensemble casts and this is another. Jeff Bridges is set to take on the central role of Maester Gregory, while Ben Barnes will play the seventh son Tom Ward.

Bridges and Barnes - who are working together for the first time - are joined on the cast list by Julianne Moore, Kit Harington, Alicia Vikander, Djimon Hounsou, and Olivia Williams.

In a time of enchantments when legends and magic collide, the sole remaining warrior of a mystical order (Bridges) travels to find a prophesized hero born with incredible powers, the last Seventh Son (Barnes).

Torn from his quiet life as a farmhand, the unlikely young hero embarks on a daring adventure with his battle-hardened mentor to vanquish a dark queen (Moore) and the army of supernatural assassins she has dispatched against their kingdom.

Seventh Son looks set to have expanded the world and the story from the book to make it a bigger and more action packed movie. There are few fantasy films on the schedule for early 2015, and Seventh Son could well be a film in this genre that is not to be missed.

Seventh Son is released 27th March 2015
