In Unfinished Business, released in cinemas March 6th, Vince Vaughn, Dave Franco, and Tom Wilkinson travel to Europe to land the biggest business deal of their lives in an attempt to save themselves from bankruptcy. However, their plans are soon thwarted by Sienna Miller, a business woman from a much bigger rival company with a fierce personality and a strong competitive streak.

Unfinished Business

Miller isn't the first strong and driven female boss in cinema history, so we're going to take this chance to go through some of the best female bosses in film.

1. Princess Leia (Star Wars)

People tend to forget that Princess Leia is a very powerful figure in the Star Wars films, often calling her a princess simply because that's just what you call her.

Leia isn't just a princess though, she is a diplomatic leader for Alderaan and a figurehead of the entire Rebel Alliance. But even if we ignore all of these things, many of her lines throughout the original trilogy show her to have command over every person on screen.

Quote: "Governor Tarkin, I should have expected to find you holding Vader's leash. I recognised your foul stench when I was brought on board."

Princess Leia

2. Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (Alien)

No list like this would be complete without Ripley. From the get go, Ripley is shown to be cool, calm, and collected. She understands the rules and regulations are there to be followed and to keep them safe, and she shows her command over the people she is with at every step of the series.

While Ripley never starts off in full command of the people she is with, her experience and determination to survive always place her at the top and everybody listens to her.

Quote: "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

Ellen Ripley

3. Miranda Priestly (The Devil Wears Prada)

Known as The Snow Queen by some of her employees, Miranda Priestly is the Editor-in-Chief of Runway, a fashion magazine. Outwardly cold toward everyone but her daughters, she has worked her way up the ladder over the years, chasing away friends and potential lovers alike.

Her passion for the industry and her jobs shows through at all times, and although she has a hard exterior, it is shown toward the end of the film that she cares about some of the people in her life, and only pushes them to drive them to be their best.

Quote: "Why didn't you confirm?"

4. Pepper Potts (Iron Man 2)

Starting off as Tony Stark's personal assistant, Pepper is given the role of CEO of Stark Industries by the second instalment in the Iron Man series. She is perhaps one of only a few people that surround Tony that are able to keep him in check, and for that she is one of his only real friends in the world.

Pepper is capable of keeping up with Tony's wit and personality, taking everything in stride and ultimately only ever cracking when things are literally blowing up around her.

Quote: "She is from legal and she is potentially a very expensive sexual harassment lawsuit if you keep ogling her like that."

Iron Man 2

5. Rita Vrataski (Edge of Tomorrow)

Known to the world as a War Hero, nicknamed The Full Metal Bitch, Rita just wants to get the job done and end the war against the alien lifeforms known as Mimics. Rita is experienced with the time bending properties of the Mimic blood.

She is a no nonsense soldier, listening to people when it makes sense to do so, but ultimately doing what needs to be done to win the war.

Quote:"Last time I was in combat, I was hit. I was bleeding out, just not fast enough. I woke up in a field hospital with three pints of someone else's blood and I was out. I lost the power, do you understand? Think we better start over, don't you?"

Edge of Tomorrow

6. Zoë (Serenity)

Second in command on the Serenity, for all intents and purposes you'd think she was the captain. She knows when to listen to Mal, but she's not a pushover, she will happily tell Mal when he's going wrong or being stupid.

Fiercely loyal to the whole crew, those that she considers a friend anyway, and the loving wife of pilot Wash, Zoë is just one of many women in the crew that you wouldn't ever want to go up against. The crew knows when they should listen to her, as Jayne finds out on several occasions.

Quote: "Do you know what the definition of a hero is? Someone who gets other people killed. You can look it up later."
