The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby

It has been a fair old while since we have seen Baz Luhrman in the director's chair but he is back with The Great Gatsby.

The movie sees him bring the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel to the big screen in what is set to be a lavish production packed with terrific actor.

And one of those actors is Leonardo DiCaprio as the Oscar nominated star reunites with Luhrmann for the first time since Romeo & Juliet.

A Luhrmann production is always a lavish affair and The Great Gatsby will be no different as the director has really brought the twenties alive.

And we have some fantastic new images from the film for you to check out:

DiCaprio leads the all star cast in the film as he takes on the role of the mysterious Jay Gatsby.

Fellow Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan will play Daisy Buchanan while Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton are just one of the other names on board.

The Great Gatsby will open the prestigious Cannes Film Festival next month and it really is a movie that is not to be missed this May.

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks.

Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.

It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits.

As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Any Luhrmann movie is a spectacle not to be missed and The Great Gatsby promises to follow on that tradition.

The Great Gatsby is released 16th May. Check out all of our Great Gatsby images
