Benedict Cumberbatch will be back on the big screen in just over a fortnight as The Imitation Game is released.

The Imitation Game

The Imitation Game is already one of the most talked about movies of the autumn, having picked up great reviews on the festival circuit in recent weeks.

It is Cumberbatch's central performance that has just about everyone in a tizzy as he takes on the central role of Alan Turing, an English mathematician and logician. The film follows his role in breaking the Enigma Code.

In this brand new clip from the film, Turing is being recruited by Charles Dance:

The Imitation Game is based on the book by Andrew Hodges, and marks the return of Morten Tyldum - who is best known for Headhunters - back in the director's chair.

This is the first time that Tyldum has teamed up with Cumberbatch, as the director has brought together a great cast that includes Dance, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, and Matthew Goode.

The Imitation Game is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain's top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II.

Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

The Imitation Game could well be in the Oscar running at the beginning of next year, as it is already being tipped as a possible contender. Cumberbatch could also find himself up for Best Actor for his central performance in the film.

We are huge Cumberbatch fans here at FemaleFirst, and we are excited to see him deliver what looks set to be one of the best performances of his acting career to date.

The Imitation Game is released 14th November.
