The Imitation Game

The Imitation Game

The Imitation Game is a movie that we are really excited about here at FemaleFirst, as it marks the return of Benedict Cumberbatch to the big screen in a major leading role.

The Imitation Game sees Cumberbatch take on the role of mathematician Alan Turing in a brand new film about his role in the cracking of the Enigma code during the Second World War.

This is a movie that is already surrounded in Oscar talk, and looks set to be another film that will send Cumberbatch's star rocketing even further.

The first teaser trailer for the film has been released and shows Cumberbatch in action:

An all-star cast has been assembled for the film, as Cumberbatch is joined by Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance, and Mark Strong.

The Imitation Game is a nail-biting race against time following Alan Turing (pioneer of modern-day computing and credited with cracking the German Enigma code) and his brilliant team at Britain's top-secret code-breaking centre, Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II.

Turing, whose contributions and genius significantly shortened the war, saving thousands of lives, was the eventual victim of an unenlightened British establishment, but his work and legacy live on.

It was also announced yesterday that The Imitation Game with be the movie that will open the BFI London Film Festival last this year. The movie will receive its European premiere as it kicks off the festival on 8th October.

Cumberbatch is already no stranger to the big screen; however, The Imitation Game could well be the most exciting film role of his career to date. This could also be the film that sees the British actor bag his first Oscar nomination.

The Imitation Game is released 14th November.
