The Railway Man

The Railway Man

We love a bit of Colin Firth here are FemaleFirst, and he is back on the big screen in the new year with The Railway Man.

The Railway Man will see Firth take on another very powerful role set during and after World War II.

The movie is based on the memoir by Eric Lomax: a role that both Firth and Jeremy Irvine will play.

The Railway Man is a movie that I am personally looking forward to, and we have a trio of new clips for you to check out:

Jeremy Irvine will play the younger Lomax, a man who is held in a POW camp and tortured by the Japanese.

Firth will play the older version of the same man, who struggles to come to terms with what has happened to him.

An all star cast has been lined up for the film as Firth and Irvine are joined by Nicole Kidman, Stellan Skarsgård and Hiroyuki Sanada.

The movie also sees Jonathan Teplitzky back in the director's chair, as he teams up with Firth for the first time.

he Railway Man tells the extraordinary and epic true story of Eric Lomax, a British Army officer who is tormented as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labour camp during World War II.

Decades later, Lomax discovers that the Japanese interpreter he holds responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and sets out to confront him, and his haunting past.

2013 was kicked off with the powerful true story of The Impossible and 2014 is set to follow in those same footsteps with The Railway Man.

The Railway Man is released 10th January 2014.
