The Railway Man

The Railway Man

The Railway Man is set to be one of the movies not to miss in the new years, as Colin Firth teams up with fellow Oscar winner Nicole Kidman.

We are huge fans of Colin Firth here at FemaleFirst, and The Railway Man has been winning over audiences at the Toronto Film Festival.

And we have the very first trailer and images from the film to share with you:

The movie sees Jonathan Teplitzky return to the director's chair as he brings memoir The Railway Man to the big screen.

Firth takes on the role of Eric Lomax, a British Army officer who is tormented as a prisoner of war at a Japanese labour camp during World War II.

Decades later, Lomax discovers that the Japanese interpreter he holds responsible for much of his treatment is still alive and sets out to confront him, and his haunting past.

Firth and Kidman are joined on the cast list by Jeremy Irvine, Stellan Skarsgard and Sam Reid.

It looks like it is going to be an exciting start to 2014 if you are a movie fan, as there are some really terrific films on the horizon; The Railway Man looks set to be one of them.

This promises to be a powerful and memorable movie about war, survival, love and redemption. Could this be an Oscar contender?

The Railway Man is released 3rd January 2014
