2015 is going to be another great year if you like seeing some of your favourite novels recognised on the big screen.

American Sniper

American Sniper

There are a whole host of projects to watch out for over the next twelve months from biopics, to teen fiction, horror, and drama.

We take a look at some of the book adaptation movies that we are looking forward to the most as we prepare to head into 2015.

- Fifty Shades of Grey - released 13th February

Fifty Shades of Grey is one of the most talked about book adaptations of 2015, as E.L. James' best-selling novel gets the big screen treatment.

Fifty Shades of Grey will mark the return of Sam Taylor-Johnson to the director's chair, while Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are on board as Anastasia Steel and Christian Grey.

Johnson and Dornan are two stars on the rise, and this movie is set to send their stars rocketing next year. They are joined on the cast list by Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Ehle, and Eloise Mumford.

The movie is set to follow literature student Anastasia Steele's life changes forever when she meets handsome, yet tormented, billionaire Christian Grey.

This is the first film for Taylor-Johnson since she made her directorial debut with Nowhere Boy, while Kelly Marcel - who wrote the screenplay for Saving Mr Banks - has adapted the book into a script.

The excitement is already surrounding around the movie and it promises to be one of the early hits of the new year.

- American Sniper - released 16th January

Bradley Cooper has taken on some great roles and movies in recent years, which have turned him into an Oscar nominee and a Hollywood heavyweight. That fine trend looks set to continue as he teams up with director Clint Eastwood for American Sniper.

American Sniper will mark the first time that Cooper and Eastwood have worked together as Chris Kyle's autobiography has been adapted for the big screen.

Cooper is set to play Kyle in the new movie, which takes a look at his career as a Navy S.E.A.L. His supremacy as a sniper made his one of the most successful in American military history, but it also resulted in a bounty on his head from the enemy.

American Sniper sees Eastwood return to the war genre for the first time since Flags of our Fathers & Letters from Iwo Jima - which were two terrific Second World War movies.

Cooper is joined on the cast list by Sienna Miller, Luke Grimes, Max Charles, and Kyle Gallner. This is one of the January movies that I really cannot wait to see, as I am a huge fan of this genre of film.

- Inherent Vice - released 30th January

Inherent Vice is a movie that is already being tipped as a possible Oscar contender, and marks the return of Paul Thomas Anderson to the director's chair.

The movie is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Thomas Pynchon and is Anderson's first film since the critical success of The Master back in 2012.

The movie sees the director reunite with actor Joaquin Phoenix, while Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, and Jena Malone make up a terrific ensemble cast.

In 1970, drug-fuelled Los Angeles detective Larry "Doc" Sportello investigates the disappearance of a former girlfriend.

Anderson has already picked up Oscar nominations for the likes of The Master and There Will Be Blood in recent years, and Inherent Vice could well see him in the awards mix again at the beginning of next year.

- Child 44 - released 17th April

Child 44 is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some time, as it sees Tom Hardy - who is a FemaleFirst favourite - back on the big screen.

The movie sees Daniel Espinosa back in the director's chair as the Tom Rob Smith gets a highly anticipated big screen makeover.

Child 44 sees Hardy reunite with Gary Oldman and Noomi Rapace, while Joel Kinnaman, Charles Dance, Jason Clarke, Dev Patel, Vincent Cassel, and Paddy Considine are all on board.

Set in Stalin-era Soviet Union, a disgraced MGB agent is dispatched to investigate a series of child murders -- a case that begins to connect with the very top of party leadership.

The novel was based on the crimes by Andrei Chikatilo - best known at the Rostov Ripper - who was convicted for fifty-two murders in the Soviet Union. We have been waiting for Child 44 for some time, but it could well be one of the crime dramas of 2015.

- In The Heart of the Sea - released 13th March

Chris Hemsworth is another favourite here at FemaleFirst Towers and he has a very busy year ahead of him... In The Heart of the Sea is just one of the movies that we are going to be seeing him star in.

In The Heart of the Sea is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Nathaniel Philbrick, and sees Hemsworth reunite with director Ron Howard.

Howard and Hemsworth paired up for the fantastic Rush in 2013, and I am super excited to see them work together again on this new and very different project.

Hemsworth will take on the role of First Mate Owen Chase, and is joined on the cast list by Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw, and Brendan Gleeson.

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance.

The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story.

- Testament of Youth - 16th January

Testament of Youth was one of the movies that whipped up a storm at the BFI London Film Festival earlier this autumn, and is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some time.

Alicia Vikander is one of the most exciting young actresses around at the moment - we are going to be seeing plenty of her next year - and she will take on the central role of Vera Brittain.

Directed by James Kent, Testament of Youth is based on the autobiography of Brittain and her experiences during the First World War.

Vikander is joined on the cast list by Kit Harington, Hayley Atwell, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Miranda Richardson, and Colin Morgen and is one of the January movies that I will not be missing.

We are use to seeing Kent in the director's chair for documentary movies, with the likes of Man on Wire and Project Nim under his belt, but it is great to see him helm a drama once more.

Testament of Youth is a powerful story of love, war, and remembrance, based on the First World War memoir by Vera Brittain, which has become the classic testimony of that war from a woman's point of view.

Other books to check out include Insurgent, Seventh Son, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Mockingjay, Dark Places and Far From the Madding Crowd.
