Tuva Novotny returns to the big screen this week with her latest film A War, which sees her team up with filmmaker and writer Tobias Lindholm.

A War sees the actress takes on the role of Maria Pedersen, a wife and mother who is left to hold down the family and continue everyday life in Denmark while her husband is away fighting in Afghanistan.

We sat down with Tuva for an exclusive interview to chat about the film, her role in the movie, working with director Lindholm, and what is on the horizon for her.

A War is a movie that has been winning over critics and audiences and is one of the January foreign films that's not to be missed.

This is the first live-action film from Lindholm since the critically acclaimed A Hijacking back in 2012 - it really is great to see him back.

The director has assembled a terrific cast as Novotny is joined by Pilou Asbæk, Søren Malling, Dar Salim, and Charlotte Munck.

Company commander Claus Michael Pedersen (Asbak) and his men are stationed in an Afghan province. Meanwhile, back in Denmark Claus' wife Maria (Novotny) is trying to hold everyday life together with a husband at war and three children missing their father.

During a routine mission, the soldiers are caught in heavy crossfire and in order to save his men, Claus makes a decision that has grave consequences for him - and his family back home.

A War is released 8th January.
