Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel

It has been a while since we have seen Vin Diesel on the big screen but this week he makes an explosive return in Fast & Furious 6.

I don't think that there was anyone who thought that the Fast & Furious franchise would still be around over a decade after we were introduced to it back in 2001 - but it is going from strength to strength.

The movie sees Diesel reprise the role of Dominic Toretto and he and the rest of the team will be looking to match the success of Fast Five, the biggest grossing film in the series so far.

Fast & Furious 6 sees Diesel reunite with director Justin Lin as well as Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson.

This kicks of a busy year for the actor as he has another movie set for release as well as a series of films to start shooting.

One of the Diesel films that I am most excited about is Riddick as he reprises the title character for a third movie.

We haven't seen this character on the big screen since The Chronicles of Riddick back in 2004 but Diesel once again teams up with director David Twohy.

It was Pitch Black that was one of Diesel's breakthrough roles and it is great to see him back in what will be one of the big science fiction movies of 2013.

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered.

The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

2013 is looking like the year of the sci-fi film and Riddick is one of the movies in this genre not to miss.

We may only be seeing Diesel in two movies this year he is going to be working on a string of projects including Fast & Furious 7.

The seventh instalment of the franchise will see James Wan in the director's chair and filming on that movie is expected to get underway later this summer.

He has also been linked to The Last Witch Hunter when he revealed last week that he is set to star in a big screen remake of Kojak.

Kojak was one of the most popular TV crime dramas of the seventies starring Telly Savalas and Diesel is set to step in Savalas' shoes.

Vin Diesel is one of the most popular and familiar faces on the big screen and he has got a very exciting and busy 2013 ahead of him.

Fast & Furious 6 is released 17th May.
