Whiplash

Whiplash

Whiplash is a movie that lit up and triumphed at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Whiplash received its premiere at the festival, and went on to scoop Grand Jury Award and Top Audience Award at the festival, and well and truly won over the critics.

The movie marks the return of Miles Teller to the big screen, and he really is an actor to watch out for over the next year or so. This promises to be a performance that elevates his star even further.

The relationships between Teller and J. K. Simmons looks electric and you can see them in action in the excellent first trailer for the film:

The movie has been written and directed by Damien Chazelle, as he returns to the director's chair.

Chazelle made his debut with Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench in 2009, and Whiplash marks his first film since that debut.

The director has brought together a great cast as Teller and J.K. Simmons are joined by Melissa Benoist, Paul Reiser, and Austin Stowell.

Whiplash follows a young musician as he struggles to make it as a jazz drummer. Things are made even worse when he is faced with a bullying bandmaster.

Teller really has burst onto the scene over the last year with roles in Divergent, That Awkward Moment, and The Spectacular Now.

Whiplash is just one of the projects to watch out for, as we will be seeing him in Insurgent and The Fantastic Four.

No UK release date for Whiplash has been announced.
