Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot

Wonder Woman has been one of the most talked about roles of the autumn, with a whole host of actresses linked to the role. Just when it looked like Olga Kurylenko or Jaimie Alexander were going to bag the role, Gal Gadot snuck in land the part.

But just who is Gal Gadot?

The stunning Gadot kicked off her career as a model and went on to win the Miss Israel title in 2004, and represent her country at the Miss Universe beauty pageant the same year.

Gadot made her acting debut back in 2007 when she landed the role of Miriam ‘Merry’ Elkayam in Israeli TV drama Bubot; since then she has moved between big screen and television projects.

She ventured onto the big screen for the first time in 2009 with Fast & Furious; the fourth film in the hit action franchise; the fourth film in the series. She took on the role of new character Gisele Harabo; introduced as a liaison for drug dealer Arturo Braga.

Fast & Furious saw Gadot star alongside Paul Walker and Vin Diesel as the pair returned to the franchise with Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster.

The movie was a box office hit as it went ton to gross in excess of $363 million at the global box office; easily making back its $85 million budget.

TV roles in the likes of Entourage and The Beautiful Life, as well as small parts in Date Night and Knight and Day followed.

In 2011, Gadot was called back to the Fast & Furious franchise as she reprised the role of Gisele in Fast Five, which was quickly followed by Fast & Furious 6.

The fifth and sixth instalments of the series have gone on to become real box office smashes; Fast Five was the biggest grossing film in the franchise before the sixth film was released this summer.

This summer saw Dominic Toretto, Brian Walker and co go head to head with new villain Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans.

These two movies were action packed for everyone involved, but Gadot really did show off a great action side to herself as an actress: something that makes her perfect for the role of Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is a character that has been talked about for quite some time since D.C. Comic movies started being made in force for the big screen.

We are set to see this popular character reintroduced to film audiences in 2015, when she appears in Batman vs. Superman.

Batman vs. Superman is set to be the sequel to this summer’s Man of Steel and will see Zack Snyder return to the director’s chair.

Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Superman, while Ben Affleck will take over the role of Batman; it will be the first time we have seen this character on the big screen since Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises.

Batman vs. Superman is already one of the most anticipated films of 2015; the addition of Wonder Woman is only set to excite more comic book movie fans.

Filming is set to get underway next year, and this could well be the movie and the role that sends Gadot’s star rocketing.
