We are getting closer and closer to unveiling the Worst Movie of 2014, as we enter the top three today with Ouija.

Ouija

Ouija

It really has been a terrible year for the horror genre with a whole host of lack lustre movies hitting the big screen. They have all been a major disappointment and I haven't seen a good horror film The Conjuring in the summer of last year.

Sadly, Ouija was another of the disappointing movies in this genre, and it is in at number three on our Worst Movies of 2014 countdown.

The movie marked the feature film directorial debut of Stiles White as he made the transition from working in special effects to the director's chair. The film followed a group of friends must confront their most terrifying fears when they awaken the dark powers of an ancient spirit board.

If scares are what you are looking for then Ouija is a movie that you really need to avoid, as there is nothing to send a chill down your spine here. Sadly, this 'horror' movie is void of anything that even resembles a scare or at least at atmosphere that makes you feel that danger is around the corner.

Ouija boards really are a fascination for just about everyone and this could have been a creepy and very frightening movie premise - sadly, the chance to make a film that has you jumping out of your seat has passed the director and everyone working on this movie by.

The script is the real problem here as it is a predictable and bland tale that we have all seen a million times before. I know that there are only so many horror stories that can be told, but you want to see at least a bit of effort to making it an original - throw in some truly horrific dialogue and you will have had enough after just twenty minutes.

I wasn't filled with anticipation or expectation when I went to see this film, and yet even I was disappointed at just how tame and dull this movie really is. I am not a huge horror film fan as I always find modern movies in this genre a major let down as they never ever live up to what they promise to be - this is another fine example at how this genre seems to have lost its bite in recent years.

If you are looking for a thrilling and scary ride, then Ouija is definitely a movie that is to be avoided, as there is nothing here that will even raise your heartbeat let alone have you cowering in your seat in fear.

There have been a rather large collection of poor horror movies this year, and I am afraid that Ouija was one of the worst offenders in 2014.
