We have been treated to some fantastic trailers for X-Men: Apocalypse in recent weeks... for me, this is the best yet.

X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse is the May movie that I am looking forward to the most and it looks set to be an action-packed ride. It really looks like it is going to be the biggest film in the franchise to date.

I have always loved Bryan Singer in the director's chair of these films and he is back for his fourth film in the series and first since Days of Future Past two years ago.

And it looks like he is going to deliver more edge of your seat action and interesting relationships. Take a look at the brand new trailer... which features another very familiar character at the end:

There has been a lot of talk about whether or now we would see Hugh Jackman reprise the role of Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse.. he is the only actor to have appeared in all of the X-Men movies so far. Just how big a role he is going to play is still unknown.

The cast list is one of the most impressive to date as James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters are back as Charles Xavier, Mystique, Magneto, Beast, and Quicksilver.

I am also looking forward to seeing Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smith-McPhee play younger versions of Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, and Nightcrawler. Oscar Isaac is one of the most in-demand actors around and he will take on the title role of Apocalypse as he steps into this franchise for the first time.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.

As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

X-Men: Apocalypse is released 18th May.
