As another week comes to an end, it looks like DMX is ready to hit the road when he is released from prison on April 30th, Jadakiss joins the ranks of the Reality TV show world as he seeks a new DJ, The Roots bag a five year contract with NBC show and Pitbull finally finds a new label home for impending release.
DMX Headlines Tour
DMX is set to headline the Ambush 2.0 Tour this Summer once he has been released from prison. The Ruff Ryders front man who has been caught up in various charges over the last few years will be joined on the tour which spans the globe by Freeway, Rah Digga, Beanie Sigel and Rampage.
DMX born Earl Simmons is currently serving a 90 day sentence in the Tent City Prison in Arizona for various charges. Ambush 2.0 is to take place in the USA between June and August then will be heading overseas from September thru December.
Jadakiss Looking for a New DJ
As his long awaited album The Last Kiss is slated to drop this coming Tuesday, Lox member Jadakiss is also gearing up to launch his BET reality show. T
he premise behind the show is to find a new DJ to accompany the rapper in his shows. The Yonkers native will visit various cities throughout the US such as Miami, NYC, Chicago etc and will select various DJs to congregate in a house and live together to secure which of the selected will in fact win the coveted prize of becoming his DJ.
Jadakiss joins a long line of entertainers who have secured reality TV shows with networks such as BET, MTV and VH1.
The Roots Secure Five Year Deal
Philadelphia collective The Roots founded by Questlove have secured a five year deal to be the house band on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ which airs on NBC every week night.
The Roots have constantly throughout their careers spanning over three decades and just because they have secured such a contract doesn’t mean fans will only be able to tune in to watch the group famed for albums such as Do You Want More and Game Theory.
Founder Quest Love recently explained in an interview "Five years, but that doesn't mean that we're not touring or we're not making records. Yeah, five years, I mean right now, this particular year we have 12 weeks off, we're pretty much booking up all this 12 weeks.”
The Roots, named one of the Top 20 Greatest Live Acts in the World by Rolling Stone also set precedent by being the first Hip-Hop group to perform at the renowned Lincoln Center in New York City back in 2002.
Pitbull Signs with Polo Grounds
Miami based Pitbull who was signed to the now defunct TVT label will be releasing his new album through Polo Grounds Music which was founded by former TVT exec Bryan Leach who during his eleven year tenure at the TVT label developed artists such as Lil Jon and Pitbull to emerge as platinum selling entertainers.
Pitbull like various other artists on the TVT label before it went bankrupt was upset with the way the company were handling his various projects and blames the label and its head, Steve Gottlieb, with sabotaging his career. His first release on Polo Ground is expected to be Rebelutionary which is expected sometime during the Summer.
