The Days have added a further 11 dates to their current UK tour with a string of support dates with Elliot Minor and a performance at Newquay’s Unleashed festival alongside mystery Jets, Audio Bullys and The Zutons.
The band are brothers Luke (vocals, keyboards, chief songwriter) and Dan Simpkins (bass), Harry Meads (drums) and Tim Ayers (guitar). Theirs is music that bodies forth images of beaches and blue skies and endless summer days – which is fitting, because that’s precisely the world The Days inhabit.
Raised in the idyllic environs of South Devon, the foursome relishes the carefree lifestyle that their willing exile from the metropolis affords them.
Scratch the surface of The Days’ streamlined pop and you’ll find familiar touchstones: the harmony-laden, West Coast euphoria of The Byrds: Incubus; languid musicianship; and, especially, the agile lyrical voice of Simpkins’ songwriting idol, Ben Folds.
In between their live shows, the band are putting the finishing touches to their debut album, which they recorded at Grouse Lodge in Ireland with John Cornfield (Razorlight, Muse). Debut single “No Ties” will be released in October, further details to come.
