After the recent and hugely exciting Mercury music prize nomination for their 2006 debut album, Voices of Animals & Men and hectic year of touring, touring and more touring, The Young Knives have crept away and no sooner disappeared into the murky Oxfordshire underwaters, have they reappeared having written and embarked on making their killer second album in some lightening timing.Proving their adaptability and freshness, whilst still maintaining the aspects of their personality loved by all, Young Knives are set to cement their position as the greatest British pop band of our generation with their huge second album.A refinement of the lyrical style showcased on Loughborough Suicide from their first album permeates their new material but this time has huge melodies to match, aligning the band with British greats of the last 20 years (Blur, Radiohead). The Knives have almost finished recording the new album which is set for release at the start of 2008 with producer Tony Doogan (Super Furry Animals, Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Dirty Pretty Things) in Glasgow, at the so-called Castle of Doom studios.Today we deliver you the brand new single Terra Firma, set for full multi-format UK release featuring further, exclusive new material in the shape of unheard songs A Cavern, Holiday and Back To Back across download, deluxe vinyl, et al on October 22nd.Those who were lucky enough to witness the Knives amazing set at the packed out John Peel Stage at Glastonbury would have witnessed this thumper comeback single live to an absolutely rapturous applause from their mass of fans spilling out of the tent into the mud.Terra Firma, whose inimitable chorus shouts Fake rabbit, real snake, terra firma, TERRA FIRMA! is a suitably surreal yet anthemic, dancefloor-crushing return from the Ashby De La Zouche trio.
And to coincide, a tour just for fans has been announced for November to coincide in very special, intimate venues all across the country many dates sold out on day one, so be quick.
