Over the next five years David’s fan club grew to become the largest in history, exceeding those of Elvis Presley & The Beatles, he became the first personality to be merchandised globally. He broke box office records in the largest arenas & stadiums in the world which led him to be the world’s highest paid performer at the age of 21. Retiring from the music world in 1974, David carved a new role for himself as musical actor and starred on Broadway in ‘Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ to rave reviews.
