On his forthcoming single I Believe In The Way You Move 22-year old Jeremy Warmsley has recorded something of a modern day classic. It is undoubtedly his finest moment to date, and should cement him as a British songwriter and producer to be truly reckoned with. When originally released in spring 2005 on Excercise1 as 100-CDR only run, it pricked up the ears of the ever quick off the mark Transgressive boys, who promptly signed him to their label. For the September release, I Believe In The Way You Move has been re-recorded, and transformed into one of the most ambitious and remarkable pop songs youll hear all year. Emmy The Great provides backing vocals, her soft vocals perfectly matching Jeremys and adding another layer to the already beautifully textured production. Long term cohort and pianist extraordinaire Tom Rogersons fingers dances over the keys with flurries of notes weaving in and out of the muted tones of the brass section, creating the perfect backdrop to the echoing drums, handclaps, and electronic interludes. A sonic landscape simultaneously evocative of colliery bands, 60s Wall Of Sound pop and Warp Records, which leaves plenty of room for impulsive turns. The title suggests an ode to female beauty, but I Believe In The Way You Move also has a darker side. Like Jeremy Warmsleys long awaited debut album The Art Of Fiction (Out OCTOBER 2nd) much of the subject matter circles around sex and what its like to fall out of love. Its about feelings of guilt, loneliness and even arrogance, but also about having the determination to move on with your life.
