It looks to be destined for the Guinness Book of Records with the worlds biggest backing chorus.The Opera star recorded the Tom Jones Hit at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff ahead of the Wales verses Australia match, which had a capacity ground of 78,000.To help the fans get the words exactly right for the one and only take, giant screens had the lyrics on so every fan could sing the chorus. Extra help was given by the home teams Treorchy Male Voice Choir. As well as attempting to get her beloved Wales into the Guinness Book of Records profits from the single will go to the McMillan Cancer Support Charity. Katherine’s Dad died of cancer when she was only 15 and she has great memories of the help her family received from McMillan.Said Katherine “It will be quite emotional for me, but Welsh Rugby fans are great singers and I know they won’t let me down. I am a bit nervous as we only have one chance to get it right”.

The single was mastered and mixed on the day, then was sent straight off to the pressing plant in record breaking time, ready for download and physical release on Nov 20th. Universal records are looking to feature all 78,000 fans on the CD sleeve, using a shot taken on the day.

Katherine has made her own mark in the record books by becoming the first female artist to receive two classical Brit awards in 2004 and 2005. Her new album ‘Serenade’ could give her the hat trick.

Katherine who recently returned from entertaining the troops in Kosovo was this week pictured in a dress made from poppies to launch the British Legion ‘Poppy Appeal’, she hopes to be travelling to Afghanistan at Christmas to entertain the troops there.
