25th Anniversary Edition, Universal Music, Released 6th Nov 06To celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the most successful British films of all time, Polydor and Universal Music Catalogue are proud to announce the release of a newly remastered edition of the classic Original Soundtrack by Vangelis. The album has been personally re-mastered by the maestro Vangelis at his home studio in his native Greece and really shines. The Chariots of Fire theme is surely one of the best-known film themes of all time. The soundtrack won its composer – the great Vangelis – an Oscar in 1981 and now, 25 years on, the music has been remastered and reissued on Universal Music to mark this important anniversary.

On its release, the Chariots of Fire theme reached No.5 in the UK singles chart, staying in the Top 75 for a total of 97 weeks. The story was much the same across other countries. It was used three years later as theme for the Olympic games in Sarajevo in 1984 and ever since has been a staple across TV and radio, appearing extensively on TV adverts.

Vangelis – born Evanghelos Odyssey Papathanassiou – has enjoyed an amazing and varied career that has included other film scores such as ‘Blade Runner’. His recording career has extended across a range of projects including Aphrodite’s Child, Jon & and Vangelis and more recent experimental work.Vangelis
