Glastonbury, Meltdown, Cornbury, Cambridge, Boardmasters And Beautiful Days Festivals Reel In Fisherman’s Friends

Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends have, since announcing their deal with Universal Music, truly become the catch of the day. Not only have they consistently topped the Amazon Hot Future Releases chart, but also the ten-strong Cornish shanty singers have become the must have accessory for any festival this year.

Restricted to performing solely at weekends due to their everyday work commitments, Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends are gearing up to perform every weekend throughout June, July and August.

The cornerstone of their touring with be their appearance as some of the biggest festivals in the UK including Glastonbury Festival, a special invitation from Richard Thompson to perform at the 2010 Meltdown Festival, Cornbury Music Festival in Oxfordshire, Cambridge Folk festival, Boardmaster’s surf festival in Newquay and Devon’s Beautiful Days Festival.

The Fisherman’s Friends said, “We can’t wait to get our hooks into those festival audiences - 10 blokes singing loudly and having fun is the embodiment of the festival experience. To be playing festivals like Glastonbury that are headlined by U2 and Stevie Wonder, just hasn’t sunk in yet. Hopefully we can bring a little idyllic Port Isaac to the rest of the country.”

Continuing the tradition that garnered their recognition in the first place, Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends will perform every Friday throughout the summer in their hometown on the beachfront harbour know as the Platt.

Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends eponymous debut album will be released on 26 April 2010.
