Featuring Carl Barat, Pete Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell, the band are the first to be announced for the Scottish festival, taking place from July 10 to July 12.

Following their success back in 2002 and 2004 with album releases, the group reformed in 2010 and again in 2014 for Reading and Leeds Festival, as well as gigs at The Forum and Alexandra Palace in London.

Now working on a new record ahead of this new headline slot, they'll take to the stage and likely showcase new material at the new venue of Strathallan Castle in Perthshire.

Geoff Ellis, festival director commented: "The Libertines are a truly iconic British band, revered as cult heroes by a generation of music fans and adored by the Scottish crowd. They chose Scotland as the destination for their live return on home soil last June, and raised the roof of the Barrowlands with two exhilarating shows.

"We can't wait to welcome them back in what is a historic year for T in the Park, as we take up residency at our beautiful new home, Strathallan Castle. It's going to be a very special year for T in the Park, and we can't wait to welcome you all to Strathallan."
