Mr Solo
Mr Solo is no stranger to the limelight; as the former lead vocalist from mid-90s cult heroes David Devant And His Spirit Wife. The band cemented a dedicated following, ready to trek to every live show, addicted to the extravagant stage performances that ultimately gained them worldwide notoriety.
Now, as his adequate moniker suggests, Solo has gone solo. Not to be outdone by his previous outlandish antics, his music is equally as unrelentingly brilliant, and undeniably individual as it ever was. Solo’s off kilter, vaudeville pop pays homage to a pre-Ziggy era David Bowie as well as modern, emotive singers such as Micah P Hinson.
The lead single taken from his forthcoming album, ‘It Makes You Wonder’ is the perfect anthem for the rained upon, the ideal ode to the pessimist as we plummet in to the unknown mythical abyss of the financial meltdown.
The B Side ‘Shine A Light’ can garner a smile even from the stone faced, with it’s ear-engulfing chorus and a guitar melody so whimsically mysterious it could accompany a Wes Anderson film. The bonus ‘Industry’ is a radio-friendly anthem, with it’s blazing hook and storming production.
