Alexandra Burke

Alexandra Burke

As 2009 draws to a close and we all wonder how to pronounce 2010 (is it twenty ten, or two thousand and ten?!) we thought it was only right that take a look back at the past 12 months in an organised fashion… and what better way to be organised, than by alphabetising?

A is for Alexandra Burke - well, Miss Burke has had a good old year since winning The X Factor 365 days ago (Or thereabouts!)… she’s scored two number one with her first two single releases and bagged the topspot with her debut album Overcome too. I doubt we’ll be getting rid of her anytime soon… and a good job too!

B is for Black Eyed Peas - I’m going to be honest here, I’ve never really been a fan of the Black Eyed Peas, and that song Boom Boom Pow made me want to throw the radio out of the window, but their autumn anthem, I’ve Gotta Feeling, has never failed to get my feet tapping every single time I hear it.

C is for Cheryl Cole - The nations favourite Girl Aloud has gone solo - let’s face it, we all knew she was going to do it - and she kicked some serious butt wither her debut single Fight For This Love, which nabbed the topspot from her protégé, Alexandra Burke.

D is for Daughtry - Daughty’s 2009 album release, Leave This Town is by far one of the best albums I’ve heard this year, so much so that I immediately bought their older, self-titled album only to find that it had the original version of Westlife’s recent hit, What About Now… can those four Irish guys NEVER release an original song?!

E is for Eminem - The Real Slim Shady made his highly anticipated comeback this year with the release of his new album, Relapse. Whilst I only bought the track because it was from Marshal Mathers (and I have a bit of a crush on him) I do think he’s made a welcome return to the charts.
