Souljah Boy
As popular as Hip Hop is, alongside winners must also come losers, and 2008 has seen it's fiar share of these. FemaleFirst has put together a list of the boys who didn't quite make it this year. Oh well, better luck next time!
He took the world by storm with his platinum selling debut which boasted various catchy dances to the disgust of true Hip-Hop heads. But with dismal sales of his second album and various idiotic comments to his credit Souljah Boy does indeed look like his day might have been and gone.
Talking to Hip-Hop journalist Toure on the BET red carpet in Atlanta in October, Souljah Boy was to become his publicists walking nightmare. He thanked ‘slave masters’ saying to Toure when asked about historical figures he most hated "Oh wait! Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters!
Without them we'd still be in Africa," the Ohio native responded. Needless to say outrage ensued and his hooks and dances were not able to save him, nor was the diligent work of his PR team.
After being found guilty of assault with an illegal weapon, Bronx Rapstress Remy Ma found herself sentenced to a maximum of eight years in prison.
Ma, born Remynicse Smith was once the leading lady of Fat Joe’s Bronx Crew, The Terror Squad. With only one album to her credit and various mixtapes Remy Ma is respected by her peers for her capabilities.
However it was the alleged shooting of a long time friend that saw Remy incarcerated this year after she ‘accidentally’ shot Makeda Barnes-Joseph after a night out in Manhattan in Summer of 2007. Remy was married to rapper Papoose while she started her stint in prison and has in place one serious legal team to fight her sentence.
With so much controversy surrounding rappers who concoct fake personas for themselves Rick Ross, AKA the Boss of Miami found himself stuck in the middle of some serious quick sand this year.
It came to light that the rapper, who boasts a criminal past of slinging drugs and securing financial gain through a myriad of illegal activity, was in fact a prison guard before securing his record deal. This didn’t sit well with fans of Ross and bloggers who listened to the rapper attempt to defend himself feebly then finally admit to being a corrections officer.
Word of advice to rappers, practice what you preach as the world is watching…apparently.
The Hip-Hop world groaned in agony when former G-Unit rapper Young Buck was ousted from 50 Cent’s gang after showing no loyalty to his crew.
Not only was Buck stripped of his stripes but he was also put on blast when 50 Cent leaked to the world a tape recording of a phone conversation he had had with Young Buck when Buck was pleading for forgiveness from the Capo, which resulted in Buck shedding a few tears.
The leak of such a phone call proved to Buck that his days with G Unit were in actuality as over as a Woolworths store and once again proved that 50 Cent would in no way sit back and watch one of his payroll align themselves with those who he considered the Enemy.
The Ruff Ryder front man is now in the media for a lot more than his music. With a consecutive string of arrests and dodges with the law in various states, DMX born Earl Simmons has been in the media every week for one charge or another.
He was caught hiding out at super producer Scott Storch’s house in Miami earlier this month and quickly escorted back to his state of residence Arizona where he faces various charges from identity theft, to animal cruelty, to drugs, to traffic offences, to unauthorized travel while out on bail, the list just goes on and on and on.
With all his brushes and altercations with the law it looks like DMX fans might have to wait for his double album release day through Bodog Music that was expected before the year end as recording appears to be the last thing on his mind right now.

What good have you found in hip-hop? First of all, there are deez lawbreakin' fools you see here. Beyond that 99% of deez fools use autotune for dey voices because dey have no talent. Dey fools!!!
