Russell Brand’s infamous quip about Amy Winehouse at the 2007 Brits “Amy Winehouse - her surname's beginning to sound like a description of her liver” has been voted the most memorable Brit Awards quote of all time.

Over one thousand music fans voted in a survey specially commissioned by MySpace Music to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Brit Awards. Respondents were asked to choose from a shortlist chosen encompassing the most outrageous, controversial and cringe-worthy quotes from the Awards 30 year history.

The findings reveal that the estranged Gallagher brothers; Liam and Noel are old hands when it comes to memorable Brits quips - each have an entry in the top ten and they are also the targets of two further quotes in the final countdown including broadsides from both Mel C and Robbie Williams who famously challenged Liam to a televised fight at the 2000 Awards.  "So, anybody like to see me fight Liam? Would you pay to come and see it? Liam, a hundred grand of your money and a hundred grand of my money? We'll get in a ring and we'll have a fight and you can all watch it on TV, what d'you think about that?"

Justin Timberlake’s 2004 acceptance speech was also ranked highly for wit, poking fun at the older rock contingent with "This is only my first record so you guys stick with me, we've got depression and drug addiction to go through’. Other notable entries included Bob Geldolf’s cringeworthy tribute to Michael Jackson in 1996: "When he sings, it is with the voice of angels. When his feet move, you can see God dancing."
