At only twenty-three, Will Martin has already packed in a lifetime of paying dues. From school musicals, playing piano in bars, waiting tables, corporate entertaining and singing in rock bands to singing the New Zealand National Anthem in front of a sold out All Blacks crowd – Will has done it all.

It has all been a lead up to this – ‘So Far Away.’ his stunning debut single for Universal Classics and Jazz. Taken from Will’s debut album ‘A New World’ is an epic collection of classical crossover songs. Recorded with a full orchestra, this selection of songs simultaneously reflects Will’s origins and the scope of his unfaltering ambition. ‘A New World’ will be released on the Universal Classics and Jazz label, on Sept 22nd.

To support the release of ‘So Far Away’, Will is embarking on a promotional tour of the UK, which will include Will performing and giving vocal master classes in schools up and down the country.

Prior to Will backpacking his way around the world, with London as his final destination, Will sent his demo to the heads of two British record companies. The two record companies grew very excited; Will gave two intimate showcases one in Barcelona and one in Antigua, (the quickest places the records execs could get to) as Will had managed to get himself a job, singing and playing piano on a cruise ship. Before he knew it, a young man with no manager, no lawyer and no fixed plan had two record deals on the table from both EMI and Universal.

“Will Martin is a once in a generation talent,” Dickon Stainer, MD of Universal Classics and Jazz says. “When I first heard the demo, I knew he was head and shoulders above any other international artist around at present.”

Will flew to London where he was courted by the record companies. Shortly thereafter, Will signed a five album deal with Universal and took on a manager.

The epic single ‘So Far Away’ is the first UK release for Will whose debut album ‘A New World’ has already achieved triple platinum status in his homeland New Zealand.
