Gucci Mane

Widely tipped to be one of the 2010’s breakthrough rappers, Gucci Mane will release his UK debut single ‘Spotlight’, featuring the notable vocal talents of Usher, on February 8th. The single previews the release of his highly anticipated new album ‘The State vs. Radric Davis’ that follows on February 15th.

On November 12th, Gucci Mane was sentenced to twelve months in Fulton County Jail in Georgia due to a probation violation. Gucci was informed by the courts that he is eligible for release in six months or less. This latest prison stretch is his fourth and follows a prior charge of attempted murder following a dispute with fellow Atlanta rapper Jay “Young Jeezy” Jenkins.

Gucci has given the following statement in regards to his legal troubles: "I have accepted full responsibility for my actions and I am ready to deal with what is in front of me right now. Thankfully, my label is still moving forward with my album release so I will have plenty to look forward to when I get out. I am remaining positive and want my fans to know that I am grateful for their loyalty and continued support. I will get through this."

His imprisonment means that he is currently unable to participate in any promotion for his upcoming releases. Hailing from the mean streets of East Atlanta’s Zone 6, Gucci Mane has endured a troublesome journey to become one of the genre’s hottest new stars. Mane’s rise to the top commenced when his collaboration with Young Jeezy on the club anthem ‘Icy’ became a huge hit. Unfortunately almost a year in prison on an attempted murder charge ensured that he couldn’t fully capitalise on his growing popularity.

Gucci Mane’s return to the scene in 2009 after his third spell in prison (this time for a probation violation stemming from the Young Jeezy incident) saw him become one of 2009’s most prolific artists as he recorded 150 songs for 40 different albums and mix tapes. He featured on Top 20 hits from Mariah Carey, Mario and Trey Songz, and his own track ‘Wasted’ became a #1 urban mainstream radio hit.

‘The State Vs. Radric Davis’ will be his first album to be released through So Icey / Asylum / Warner Bros. Records. Including both ‘Wasted’ and ‘Spotlight’, it features contributions from Keyshia Cole, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Keri Hilson and Usher.
