Bo Bruce - My new favourite solo singer

Bo Bruce - My new favourite solo singer

Although I have spent many a Sunday afternoon moaning about Bo Bruce and her ‘attitude problem’ she managed to completely change my opinion of her following our recent interview, and I was 100% gunning for her to get into the final alongside the incredible Hip Parade and enigmatic Tommy Reilly.

Hip Parade were on top form as per usual, looking good, sounding amazing and performing like their lives depended on it. And you know what, I’m thinking that singer Rob Shah might just be finding himself on my list of hot men. Okay, so most men are actually on there, but Rob might be finding himself higher placed that Alex James, and that’s no mean feat I tell you now!

Tommy Reilly once again gave me goosebumps with his song Give Me a Call, every single time I hear Tommy I wonder if there is nothing that this lad can’t do. He is one of the most amazing singers I have heard in a long, long time - all the way through his song, my friend and I were texting each other discussing how mind-blowingly individual this boy is. What’s more, he’s so modest about his talent too; that makes him a winner in my eyes.

Scarlet Harlots sadly didn’t wow me as much as Bo Bruce, and I thought it would be them and Toby that waved goodbye in the results show. Granted they are have a mind-bogglingly individual sound and Sam has better fashion sense than Giovanni Versace but yesterday, for me it was Bo who deserved to stay in the competition.

Fair enough, I know she’s had her ups and downs and has taken a battering from the judges (some more than other) but her new song Kiss In The Dark was the best I have ever heard her sing, and she looked absolutely stunning to boot. With her love for Alex James and All Saints dresses, I think Bo is my new best mate. I love her, if there’s a gig of hers up in my neck of the woods I’m there. It takes a lot to change my opinion of someone, but this girl is a star in the making. No doubt about that.

Toby Sebastian has never really been the top of my list, but he was pretty good yesterday, although we have to admit, he could have never taken on Tommy Reilly and won. There is only one male singer songwriter who is going anywhere this year and that’s Tommy.

So, we have our final three, and I honestly can’t decide which of the Scotsmen I want to win, Hip Parade are the kind of band I’d go to see live over and over again, but Tommy Reilly is so bloody amazing, he leaves me lost for words with every performance. Then we have Scarlet Harlots who found their way back into the competition on a wildcard. It seems bittersweet that they have been brought back, but at the same time, facilitated the loss of Bo Bruce. It’s going to take me a while to get used to not seeing her.

Either way 2009’s Orange Unsigned Act With Sony Ericsson is going to be the year of the boys.
