One of the last bands to emerge out of the ninties cheesy pop scene was the overly beautiful S Club 7; seven perfectly groomed, dancing kings and queens with crystal clear smiles
The group was made up of Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt, and Rachel Stevens and really found fame in their CBBC series Miami 7 in 1999.
Proving their success with teenagers all across the world, over the fours years they were together the band had four UK number-one singles, one UK number one-album and had a string of number-one singles throughout Europe and recorded a total of four studio albums and released eleven singles.
Their first album, S Club, had a strong 1990s pop sound, similar to many artists of their time. However, through the course of their career, their musical approach changed to a more dance and R&B sound which is seen mostly in their final album, Seeing Double.
As well as the popularity of their television series, which became popular in 100 different countries where the show was watched by over 90 million viewers; S Club 7 won two BRIT Awards—in 2000 for British breakthrough act and in 2002, for best British single.
In 2001, the group earned the Record of the Year award, however, this joy was short-lived as Paul Cattermole announced he was to leave in the band, a few months later which led to the inevitable spilt of the group in 2003.
Since the split Tina Barrett has kept a relatively low-profile despite hinting that she planned to launch a solo career in the aftermath of the break-up.
She also learnt the price of fame when she started to receive threatening e-mails from a doctor's son, and then in August 2003, the culprit was jailed for six months.
Her love-life still comes under scrutiny as she was romantically linked to David Schwimmer in 2004 but this romance was not taken any further when he moved back to America.
Paul Cattermole was the first member to leave the group and cited his reasoning behind the departure as his dislike for pop music and the highly commercialised world of pop in general.
Since leaving in June 2002, Paul pursued his dream of being in a metal band (weird that he found fame in a bubblegum pop group then!) and consequently re-joined his high school nu metal band Skua.
However, the reunion wasn't to be and they broke up soon afterwards, but keen not to give up he then joined Charlie Bullitt but the band broke up in November 2005.
Cattermole, after getting together whilst still in the band, continued to date fellow band member Spearritt in a relationship which went on to last for five years.
However, I don't think we've seen the last of him as on his MySpace page, he expresses interest in releasing an album in 2008.
