'Pretty Hurts' is the new single to be lifted from Beyoncé's incredible self-titled fifth studio album, along with the seven minute music video for the track.

Those who bought the album will already be familiar with the story being told and the message being put across here. 'BEYONCÉ' was a visual record - one where every song had a music video upon launch - but casual fans and listeners can now also see exactly what Bey had up her sleeve with this song.

The video shows the preparations beauty queens go through before a competition. The dramas that ensue over simple things such as a hair dryer, and the traumas they face to live up to the image that everybody has of what a beauty queen should be.

It's a hard hitting piece of film but one that's absolutely worth the time.

"Perfection is a disease of a nation" she croons with her effortlessly brilliant vocals, and as with every piece of work she puts out, she's making a statement that will do a world of good for the female generation.
