Dubbed the UK's answer to the likes of Taylor Swift, The Shires are a country duo that hope to bring a British twist to the pop and Nashville sound.

Working together for a long time to reach their goals, Ben and Crissie of the group were connected through Facebook, introduced by a mutual friend.

Instantly feeling a musical connection and discovering that they both lived near one another in 'The Shires', the two didn't take long to start making music together.

Dolly Parton and Faith Hill can be noted as two artists who kicked off Crissie's passion for country, and while she's been singing her whole life, her new partner Ben has been touring as a singer/songwriter with artists including K.T. Tunstall.

Fast-forward to their signing with Decca, and they got the offer just before their first official live London event at Country 2 Country Festival in the O2 Arena.

Since then they're played alongside American stars including Striking Matches and Cassadee Pope, and show no signs of slowing down.

They kick off their UK tour tonight, full dates of which are as follows:

July 24th: Milton Keynes The Stables
July 26th: Manchester Deaf Institute
July 27th: Ipswich Jimmy’s Farm Festival
July 28th: London The Water Rats
July 30th: Birmingham The Temple
August 2nd: Cambridge Folk Festival
September 13th: London, Proms in the Park

A music video for their new single 'Tonight' has also been released.

The song - available now - explores the tale of young love and hopes to tap into the experiences many of us have faced in life. Check out the video below.
