Rudimental's album of the year is James Blake's 'Overgrown'.
Hitmakers Rudimental were beaten to this year's Barclaycard Mercury Prize by Blake's album 'Overgrown' on Wednesday night (30.10.13), however, they have no bad feelings about missing out on the gong as the electronic music group are big fans of the 25-year-old musician's work and have had his tracks playing on their tour bus.
Leon Rolle exclusively told femalefirst.co.uk: "That's been one of our albums of the year, as cliché as it sounds. We have literally been listening to James Blake's album pretty much every time we have gone on tour, and we've been in the car with it."
The band attended the awards ceremony at London's Roundhouse venue in Camden, and particularly enjoyed James' performance.
Leon explained: "One of the greatest tracks on it was 'Retrograde', which is like the banger, and I got to see him sit and perform it live for the first time myself."
Among the other acts nominated for the prize - which recognises the best British or Irish album in the last 12 months - were Disclosure, Foals, Jake Bugg and David Bowie, and Leon thinks the level of the competition is a "testament to UK music".
He explained: "I think it is well deserved and if you were going to lose to anyone in the category definitely James Blake.
"I felt like it was just deserved. The Mercury is a tight competition with so many great albums on there and if I was in the room and if I was on the panel I don't think I can put any sort of defeat in. It's a testament to UK music at the minute. It's looking really positive."
Rudimental are set to perform with Lily Allen and Katy B at the Red Bull Revolutions in Sound event inside capsules on the EDF Energy London Eye on Thursday November 14.
