It took only an hour for Shawn Mendes' debut single 'Life Of The Party' to vault to number one on iTunes US charts - no mean feat for a 15 year old singer/songwriter.

Becoming a viral sensation seemed to happen relatively quickly for Mendes, and he went on to become the youngest artist to ever break Billboard Hot 100's Top 25 with their first chart entry, when that same tune sold 150,000 in its first week alone.

As his first original release and an advance track from his forthcoming self-titled EP, Shawn looks set on making the big time and isn't looking to let anything get in his way.

Recording covers was his way to stardom as he used digital platform Vine to become one of today's most buzzed-about young artists. It wasn't long until he was signing on the dotted line to work with artist manager Andrew Gertler and Island Records.

Before he turns 16, Shawn will release his EP on July 28 and heading into the summer, he's getting started writing and recording his very own material.
