Hip-hop star Lauryn Hill is in morning for her former bassist who has been found dead in his car in Oakland, California.

Dewey Tucker was discovered behind the wheel of his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head on Tuesday night.

California police believe the 24 year old was en route to a practice session when he was shot and killed.

Authorities have yet to establish a motive or name any suspects, and fear Tucker may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The musician also performed for rap group The Coup and was a member of the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church band in Oakland.

Tucker is survived by a fiancee, whose name has not been released to the press.
