Chuck D, one part of Public Enemy has started work on a movement to encourage females in Hip-Hop.
There are very few females involved in the genre now and D hopes his movement Crew Grrl Order which us being pushed through his indie label SLAMjamz will be the beginning of bringing women back to the forefront.
The rapper/activist also believes that the lack of females in the industry on the performing side is encouraging the music to move backwards thus making all the progress made by MCs such Lyte, Queen Latifah, Monie Love void.
The sophomore album from Crew Grrl Order features MC Lyte and is scheduled for release in March.
Since embarking on community service stemming from gun charges, rapper TI has been speaking in schools encouraging anti violence and all his community service have been filmed for an MTV reality show.

The MTV show is not however counted towards the rappers community service but sources within TI’s camp hope that the show will give kids ‘a new perspective on the damage guns and violence can bring.’
The show will debut on February 11th.
