In today's Daily Rap we see a brawl grind the Dirty Awards to a halt, Donny Goines releases a new album, a witness comes forward in the Philiant Johnson case and Diddy promotes a new smell.
Brawl stops Dirty Awards
The fourth annual Dirty Awards were brought to a dramatic end on Monday night in Atlanta Georgia after a fight broke out between various members of TI’s Grand Hustle label and the entourage of rapper Shawty Lo.
The two artists have voiced their disapproval of each other as of late and it was even alleged that the pair had made peace backstage at the event show which was attended by Trina, Monica, Rick Ross and various other southern entertainment stars.
But after one scuffle almost stopped the show and authorities calmed down the situation it was during a performance by TI that the confrontation between the two camps escalated again and the awards were stopped. There were numerous arrests made and people charged due to the melee.
Shawty Lo has since made a statement that he is still quite eager to see the ‘beef’ end but he is unsure if TI’s intentions are quite as honorable.
Donny Goines releases new album
Manhattan lyricist Donny Goines will be releasing his first official debut album on December 16th through Amalgam.
The album, Minute after Midnight, which has been close to a year in the making sees Donny Goines link up with famed producer Dame Grease to produce the first single off the album and also land the role of Executive producer.
"I truly put my heart in it and wanted to create something that could stand the test of time,” explained Donny who works with producers Statik Selekta, K Salaam and Beatnik on the project as well.
Witness comes forward in Philiant Johnson Case
Ti testified in the murder trial of Thomas Hosea last week explaining the situation which saw his long time friend and assistant shot and killed after the rapper performed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006.
But a witness for Hosea has come forward in the latter stages of the trial and provided an alibi for the alleged assailant. Kim Sweeten, a former girlfriend of the defendant has testified that Thomas Hosea was actually with her the night of the shooting which left Johnson dead and three people injured.
The case continues.
Diddy promotes new smell
After the success of his Unforgiveable line, Sean Combs unveiled his new cologne this week just in time for the legendary Black Friday sales in the USA which follow the Thanksgiving Holiday. The new cologne is called I am King and according to Diddy embodies what he believes most men to look for. To coincide with the launch there is a large billboard in Times Square of the super mogul promoting his new line.
"I am really proud of the new billboard and of the message that it conveys to everyone who gets to see it," said Combs. "I Am King is not just about me, but every man. We are all descendants of kings. And if all men believe in that, we can accomplish anything. This image pays tribute to that belief, that ideal."
