Creature With The Atom Brain

Creature With The Atom Brain

Having been formed as a one-man recording project in 2005 by Aldo Struyf in between his touring with Millionaire and The Mark Lanegan Band, Creature With The Atom Brain released two 12" EPs before evolving into a full band, with the addition of Dave Schroyen, Jan Wygers and Michiel Van Cleuvenbergen.

In 2007 Creature released their first full length 'I Am The Golden Gate Bridge' followed by the sophomore album 'Transylvania' in 2009.

While their willingness, or rather compulsion, to explore psychedelic territory might have stood in the way of landing them serious airplay, it did contribute to the cult acclaim and fan base they have gathered since and made them a critical favorite with key music press.

Much respected by fellow musicians, Creature With The Atom Brain has toured extensively over the past few years throughout Europe and North-America supporting the likes of Queens Of The Stone Age (2008 - Europe), The Jesus And Mary Chain (2008 - Europe / US), The Dead Weather (2009 - Europe) and Alice In Chains (2010 - US / Canada) along with headline tours and festivals in Belgium, Holland, UK, Germany and Austria.

Creature’s new and third album 'The Birds Fly Low' will be released in the UK in December 2012.

It was recorded over the course of 2011 with the help of many friends, mixed by Greg Gordon and Alain Johannes and mastered by Howie Weinberg. We can already say that this is definitely Creature’s best album so far.

Meanwhile Aldo Struyf rejoined the newly erected Mark Lanegan Band in which he will be playing alongside Creature’s new drummer Jean-Philippe De Gheest and some of Belgium’s other finest (Steven Janssens on guitar and Fred 'LYENN' Jacques on bass).

On February 24th2012 they kicked off a first UK/European tour covering 30 shows across 14 countries. Creature With The Atom Brain was supporting on most all of these dates.

They are touring with Mark Lanegan again in August 2012 and on his second European tour in November/December 2012, including a show at the London Forum on December 4th.
