Danity Kane: Sean Combs may have pushed these girls to the limit both on screen and off, but it was obviously successful when their debut self titled album went certified platinum.

The MTV show Making the Band, launched the collective career of five girls from different walks of life throughout the US, but who shared the same goals and ambitions. And even though Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, Aubrey O'Day, Dawn Richard, and Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgette are only just starting on their journey into mainstream success, they are taking to it all like ducks to water. The girls took a little time out of their day whilst touring with Christina Aguilera throughout North America to talk to www.femalefirst.co.uk about the trials and tribulations of touring and just who makes sure their feet are firmly placed on the ground.

Where are you guys right now
Right now we are on our tour bus heading to Phoenix as we are on tour with Christina Aguilera. We have a show tomorrow night. We have been on the road now for a week and it has been a great experience so far.

Was this aspect something you looked forward to, the going out on the road aspect, as some artists just don’t like going out on the road
We were definitely looking forward to this. You know it is an experience that not many people get to have, you get to go out and put your songs on stage with dance and concepts and it is a very exciting and creative process which we were looking forward to.
Do you find it tiring
The rehearsing is never tiring, but I do think the tiring thing is being on the tour and not sleeping at all. You know our work ethic is we love to put in the hard work but naturally it does have a toll on your body after a certain point.

How do you maintain your voices
We make sure we wrap up and keep warm, take our vitamins and make sure we are all good and that is the best thing that we can do. Right now a lot of people out on tour are getting sick, so we are just making sure we are getting our shots.
Do you all look after each other when it comes to things like that; you know reminding each other and things to take vitamins
Yeah we take care of each other as we are like family, we are sisters, so if one girl is sick we make sure she is getting her rest and nag her about taking her medicine [laughing.] We are all little Moms once one of us gets sick.

So where else are you heading on this tour
We will be going to Oakland, L.A, Anaheim, and San Diego then over to Baltimore, D.C. We are up and down and all around on this tour. We are going to Fort Lauderdale, we are everywhere. The tour is ten weeks in total and we are just at the end of the first week.
How is living a normal life now? I am sure you guys are getting recognized on the streets and things now. Has this been hard adjusting to
We don’t feel like we are stars or celebrities. We just feel that we are people that have been blessed. All that fame stuff, we just love what we do and we just try really really hard to be the best we can and give the fans the best that we can, we want to feel like we give them 100%. We don’t feel like stars, we just accept ourselves for being who we are, but we don’t do stardom.
Do you feel that you need to stay grounded to deal with success
Of course you have to stay grounded; I feel that is where we all get our base from. We are very spiritual women and we believe that you need to be grateful for everything you are given and feel blessed and I think we all come from that same grounding. That obviously comes from our parents and our families and the way we were raised; they taught us that to always be grounded. We have so many people around us keeping us at a nice level that we cant go anywhere or they will pull us right back down immediately and we think that is a beautiful thing. I am proud to be in a group of girls who help keep me grounded and keep themselves grounded as well.
The album was certified platinum. That was a great achievement in today’s market, how was it being so well received
When we found out we went platinum, it was so exciting. It is not something that you expect or you don’t expect. It is just something that you hope your music will be loved and appreciated as much as we appreciate it and to know that everyone felt that so quickly and when our first week’s sales were out the roof, it was an amazing feeling. You know to be recognized in terms of what we do was great.

You have a pretty big fan base here in the UK, when can we expect to see you here and when is the album going to drop here as it is still only available on import over here
We didn’t know we hadn’t dropped over there. We will put some calls in on that laughing.

Yeah tell Diddy to get on his job laughs
.

I don’t think we could tell him that. But we have been fortunate to visit Germany and we were in London on a small promo tour, but we have to get back over there. We had so much love from everyone and it is somewhere we don’t want to ignore.

Did you get to go to the Oscars© or the Grammies
We weren’t at the Oscars, but we did get to go to the Grammies.

With all these award shows, do you have designers knocking on your doors hoping to have you wear their clothes? I mean all girls like to dress up
. No, unfortunately we don’t. We would like them too though. For the Grammies and The Billboard and now the Soul Train Awards which we are now nominated for we don’t have anyone looking to wear their clothes..just yet.
