Mini Viva

Mini Viva

Mini Viva are two girls looking to make a name for themselves in the dog-eat-dog world of popstars, but before they try and take down Cheryl Cole or elbow Lady Gaga from the charts, Vagabond’s Alex Vargas caught up with the cheeky pair for a chat.

Hey girls, how are you?

Hi Alex!

So, you’re getting ready to release your new  single, which I’ve just seen the video for and it looks amazing… so can you tell us a bit about it?

It’s our first single and it’s going to be released on September 7th which is in 3 weeks so we’re busy touring and doing loads of promotion and trying to get it played on the radio really.

Yeah, I heard Scott Mills played it as his single of the week last week or the week before - we had a little party on the bus when we found that out! So what about the album that the single is taken from, when’s that coming out?

The album will be out in November so everyone is going to have to wait until then!

Are you happy with the way it’s sounding so far?

Yeah! It’s great! Every track is different to any other track on there. You can’t really say something like “This is the same as that one” because on every track we want to try and pull in a different type of audience. We don’t want to be one trick ponies where we do all the same stuff.

Yeah, I mean there is a lot of competition in the business today, so giving them some variety isn’t a bad idea, but do you think you have what it takes to give the big names a run for their money?

Yeah! We’re going to have a bash! I know there are loads of girl bands out there at the moment, but there aren’t many duos around really, and even though we’re doing pop music, we’re more edgier than just cheesy pop. Our voices have their own little twang so you can’t really compare that with anyone else’s.

So, if you could recommend just one song of yours for us to download so that we want to hear all of your music, what would it be?

Frankie - I Wish would be because it’s a feel good song that I think everyone will love and just sing along to in the car!

Britt - mine would be Hook, because it get’s you hooked on the song!

So, here at FemaleFirst we think a little bit cool, so what advice would you give to someone just starting out, knowing what you know now?

I would say not to be afraid and to be yourself and believe in what you want to do in life. Have fun with it all the way and don’t take things too seriously.

So, if Mini Viva was an acronym what would each letter stand for?

M would stand for marvellous and V would stand for variety.

If you could only listen to one CD for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Frankie: Mine would be Beyonce because she’s my favourite.

Britt: mine would be Madonna - The Ultimate collection because it reminds me of being a kid and my mam playing it all the time.

Okay, now we want to ask you some random questions; Firstly, tell me about the most terrifying experience of your life…

Frankie: Probably when someone crashed into my car! They broke it!

What’s the most stupid purchase you’ve ever made?

Frankie: I bought a bag for £460. I use it but it’s just a ridiculous amount of money to spend on one thing… I could buy 50 bags for the same price.

You should have waited until you were a massive popstar then you could have gotten it for free.

I know, I got in trouble off my mam!

Why go to the top of a tall building, only to put money in binoculars and look at things on the ground?

To see what the view’s like from the top!
